But when it’s time to speak, the Japanese you know doesn’t always come out.

This class helps you turn the Japanese you already know into Japanese you can actually use in conversation.

How It Works

In each class, we’ll practice with 4 real-life situations.

For example:

SITUATION

You planned to take Friday off. Now you have to work.

What would you say in Japanese?

First, you’ll say it in your own words.

Then we’ll look at different ways to express the same idea—from simple Japanese you may already use to N2-level expressions you’ve studied but may not yet use comfortably when speaking.

Simple Japanese

金曜日も仕事をしなきゃいけません。

N2 Japanese

金曜日も仕事をせざるを得ません。

We’ll also look at the difference in nuance and when you might actually use each expression.

Then you’ll try again.

What You’ll Practice

For each situation, you will:

  1. Think about what you want to say

  2. Say it in Japanese using what you already know

  3. Get direct feedback

  4. Explore simple and N2-level ways to express the idea

  5. Try saying it again

We’ll practice 4 situations, with a bonus situation if time allows.

After the class, you’ll receive a review sheet with useful expressions from the session.

Who Is This Class For?

This class is for you if you’ve passed JLPT N2 but still find speaking difficult.

You don’t need an N2 certificate to join. If you’ve studied Japanese to around N2 level and have strong grammar and reading skills but struggle to speak, this class is also for you.

You already know a lot of Japanese.

Now it’s time to speak what you know.

Hi, I’m Meg, a Japanese teacher based in Japan. I’ve taught more than 5,000 lessons to learners from around the world since 2018.
